Mila Faulkner
Born and raised in Belarus,
Mila began her art studies in the field of industrial ceramics, using
nature as the inspiration for her work."For me to be an artist is all that I can be. It is my style to exist in this world. I felt like a bird in a cage before I started to paint; and, today,, I am flying along with the clouds." Oils are her chosen medium because of the freedom it allows her as she plays with her ideas. While Mila enjoys painting the world around her, it is the special character and beauty of water and sky that have become her favofrite themes. Mila currently lives with her husband in Bellingham, WA and was the frecipient of the 2003 Whatcom Museum Award of Escellence, as well as the Gold Grant Award form the Seattle Northwest Watercolor Foundation in 2002. |
